When I created MelissaChanel.com, I had no idea it’d grow into a business that brings in a salary’s worth of partnerships with household brands. That growth has brought challenges that stretch me in unique ways, but with each new challenge comes a new level of creativity, grit, determination, and a get-it-done attitude needed to reach my goals.
On top of growing this platform, I’ve stayed committed to growing professionally, too. In a matter of three years, I’ve evolved from a Social Media Manager to a Director of Global Communications. I manage seven-figure budgets, make split-second decisions, and hire teams from around the world to create big magic. It’s crazy what happens when you put no limits on your potential. Leaning into your greatness takes dedication, creativity, and most importantly, time. Late nights and early mornings, to be exact. But that’s the cost of being The Boss!

When you think of the word “Influencer”, I’m willing to bet you have an image in your mind of how that should look. Well, erase it. The only cookie cutters I like are in my kitchen drawer, OK? No matter how much I grow as a content creator, I always make sure to have check-ins with MC. I have to drown out the noise of what I should be, how I should post, and what I should wear. My superpower is that I can show up in the world as my authentic country girl, silly, bubbly, yet fierce self and still build Mel’s Mob, a tribe of people who connect with me and rock with me online and in person. Your tribe is waiting for you, and you’ll never find them if you’re afraid to be yourself. Trust me.
Personal Growth
When I first launched MelissaChanel.com, I was a single woman living in Charlotte, North Carolina, trying hard to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and my career. I did all of that while blogging on the side. I’ve since moved to New York City, grew my career and this platform, moved back to Charlotte, and met the love of my life. Now, I’m a wife, bonus mom, a career woman, and an entrepreneur. Life has come full circle for me and this blog has captured the full journey! I’ve loved sharing every moment with you.

some of the small boutiques I connect with online.
You’re on fire with blogging! How do you get it all done?
It takes a village to make any great thing great. All styling, hair, and ideas are my own and done by me,
but my village helps brings it all to life. Chanel is my backbone, keeping the logistics of the Melissa
Chanel machine running smoothly behind the scenes. Brandon Grate is my Principal Photographer,
Shay of Voga Beauty is my Makeup Artist, and Janna of Leap Innovative Group is the head of content.
How can I become an influencer?
Quality, Consistency, Authenticity. Put time and effort into your content, keep a content calendar to remain
consistent, and most of all, BE YOU. Don’t try to be like your favorite influencer or change to be the type of
person you think “makes it.” There’s nothing more influential than being unapologetically yourself.

I got my start in Charlotte before it boomed, moved to New York City, and then quit my job to return to
