The first day of 2018 is here! Happy New Year, y’all!
I’ve shared with you all my brand and blogging goals for 2018, but it’s time to get a little personal. It’s super important to write your goals out, look at them, think about them, and meditate on all the amazing things you want to accomplish. And always…ALWAYS be specific and intentional. I want to experience personal growth as well as in my professional life, so I wanted to create two separate posts distinguishing the two.
I’m also a visual learner who has to write everything down at least two or three times to make sure it stays top of mind. So I’ve been going crazy this past week, writing out all of the ways I plan to learn, grow, and SAVE! LOL. Let’s jump right in, shall we?
1. PLAN! I’m all about going with the flow, which is great at times, but sometimes we need a plan. This year, I’ll be intentional about planning things out more, whether it’s as simple as weekend plans or as elaborate as vacation.
2. Workout. Y’all. It’s time. It’s been too long since I’ve been in somebody’s gym! I’m in my new bachlorette pad and I haven’t seen the inside of the gym not once. But this year, things will change. I’m getting older—31 years to be exact—so I need to make sure I stay in shape and take care of myself in every way possible.
3. Study the Word. I enjoy going to church, listening to gospel tunes and podcasts, and reading my Bible. With all of the traveling I do with my new Cantu gig, I need to make more time to do these things that feed my soul. I’m living in my purpose, so I have to be sure to remain thankful and draw closer to God every day.
4. Share my gift more. When it comes to my work, I’m always staying busy, but I make it a point to stop and email with people who reach out for tips and advice. I absolutely love it. This year, I want to extend myself beyond just email. I want to mentor, give back to my community, and even select an intern to work with me to get more exposure to this business. I’ve been blessed with great opportunities and I’m looking forward to sharing them with someone who wants to follow in my footsteps.
5. Save more. I’m so proud of myself; I saved some in 2017 even while doing most of the things I really wanted to do. So this year, I’m taking things up a notch and saving even more. I know I can do it, even if it means shopping in my closet and not out at the mall.
6. See more of the world. Work travel, while fun, is just that—work. This year I plan to take more personal trips, both domestic and international. I’m so excited to see which places I can take off my bucket list.
7. Date more. 2017 wasn’t so hot in the love department and I’m honestly okay with that. I was able to focus on what I needed to focus on and get settled with all the newness that was coming my way. This year, though, I’m promising to carve out time to actually date.
8. Live in the moment. It’s time to put my cell phone down and enjoy the moment. In 2017 I realized that every moment doesn’t have to be captured for the blog or Instagram, so this year, I’ll simply enjoy and cherish those moments. Instead of being glued to my phone, I’ll spend time actually talking to my friends and family more when we’re face-to-face. I’m counting on you to hold me to this if we’re ever hanging out!
9. Finish decorating. I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture, and I promise you guys will see more of my place this year. It’s been a work in progress trying to decorate a two-bedroom apartment, and I just want to be done already! But of course, perfection takes time. So stay tuned!
10. LIVE MY BEST LIFE! Who cares what people have to say? Just live. I’m focused on having *me* time, taking a solo trip, and read tons of books in order to better live a fulfilled life. I’m dedicated to taking on 2018 the best way I know how.

Y’all, I’m so confident that 2018 is going to be amazing! My business is going to flourish even more than it already has, you’ll see me hanging out with Cantu in a city near you, and I will be living in the moment and enjoying my time with family and friends.

Top 2 Goals of 2k18
1. Time . Allow myself to share more time with friends family and my job. Sometimes I spread myself to thin our not at. If it involves more with my son great more date nights with his father even better and for work the time allowed their giving it my all and nothing short.
Budget budget.
Shopping for items I don’t need just to have has become a promblem . It’s something that has become me . So it’s time for a change. So much that im willing to go cold turkey..
These are great goals Jalessa! Time is always hard for me too. I had to learn to say no to a lot of things and enjoy time alone. Girl, don’t get me starting on the shopping. A budget has def helped me.

My top 2 goals for 2018…
1. Travel More. Both solo and with my son! He’s always talking about going to the beach and on an airplane, and I want to make that happen!
2. Write more. Crank out more blog posts on a consistent basis.
Love the look as always!
Yes, for the traveling! Oh he’d love Charleston and so would you. One of my favorite places ever. And you can do it. Pick a day or two and set those days as content days. That’ll help you to be more consistent.

My Top 2 goals for 2018
I plan to live on purpose!! Spending more time doing things that better me as a person, things that make me smile. For example, I spent today with my son. We watched movies together and had brunch. This really warmed my heart because he’s at the age where all he wants to do is play the game.
I plan on losing 25lbs. This I know can be done because I’ve done it in the pass. I have gotten so comfortable that I have let myself go a bit. I want to live my best life in 2018, and in order to do that I have to put myself at the top of my to do list.
Melvette, these are great goals. It’s nothing like living in the moment and enjoying those times you can’t get back. I think all of us are on a little work out plan for 2018. I have to get it together as well. Thanks so much for sharing.

My top two goals of 2k18
I guess I just really want to glow up and be who God wants me to be.
Latrice, girl you got these goals in the bag. Self love is the best. I’ve seen soo many people have this on their goal list I may have to do a whole blog post about self love. We always work so hard and worry about others that we forget to love ourselves. Keep working hard and all your goals can be achieved.

My top 2 goals for 2018:
Growing and gaining exposure with my blog and collaborating with brands. I feel like I started a good foundation in 2017 but I feel it’s time to grow and I think I really have something to share.
Working on my confidence. Learning to truly love myself where I am right now.
Great goals, CaNesha! Make sure you just stay consistent and network. Those two things will help you grow as well. Confidence is key, know that you’re amazing and you’re doing great things. Even if you have to say it every morning, trust me it helps!

My top goals for 2018:
1. Create a sustainable morning routine- Starting your morning off right is so important and sometimes that the only thing we can control I want to est. a morning routine so I can ensure I’m living my best day every day.
2. Radical Self Love and starting a career- Im in grad school and I graduate in May and I know in order to be where I really want to be I need to 1st love myself so I can attract the type of career I want when I leave school in May.
Hey Ashley! I agree, morning routines are very important and I’m just starting to get mine together. I still have a few things to work on in that area. Trying to be a morning person when you’re not is hard work. YES to self love and starting your career. You got this!
Happy New Year!

MC
Love this post! I’m currently up charting my personal goals as well. I’ve spent so much time focusing on career the past few years, I’m ready to put some real personal goals to work this year as well. Happy New Year Melissa!
Thank you so much Christina! AHHHH you don’t know how much it means to me that you stooped by my blog!! You work so hard so I know you’ll crush your personal goals this year. Just don’t forget about them. 🙂
Happy New Year!

This blog post has def inspired me to write down all my goals. I know what I want to focus on in 2018 but I need to get it all out of my head & put it on paper! I have plenty things I want to accomplish but two priorities for me in this new year will be to find a nonprofit organization in my area to do consistent community service with and to wake up earlier on Saturdays for devotion/quiet time/reflection. Good luck on accomplishing all of your goals chica, here’s to an amazing year ahead!!
Thank you so much! I’m sooo glad my post inspired you to get those goals written down. It’s much better than having it all in your head, trust me. I’m excited about your nonprofit, that’s awesome Waking up earlier on Saturday’s is something I need to do more of as well. 🙂

Hey D’Andrea! Please send your mailing address to assistant@melissachanel.com to receive your planner. Congrats and thanks for supporting 🙂
My top two goals for 2018:
1. Get my best body. I need to make time to workout at least 3 times a week. Along with that, I need to get back to eating right.
2. This year, I will go back to school. Education is key but can be hard with two little ones. It will be attainable this year.
Awesome goals Kari! You can do it. 🙂

My top two goals:
1. Stop Procrastinating! I accomplished a lot in 2017, but when I think about the time I wasted… I could have achieved much more!
2. Spend more time with “me”. I’ve always hated doing things alone and have missed out on experiences that I’m interested in because I didn’t have anyone to go with me. This year, I’m going to be intentional about doing things that I love.. alone.
These are great goals. Get the work done and that me time will help as well. You got this!

Hi Melissa! I would just like to know the planner/organizer you use. I am in search of good one. One of my goals for the year is to write my goals so once they are written and signed by me that’s my commitment to myself and to get back in shape and focus more things that make me happy and not just work.
I’m currently using a Target May Designs for Blue Sky planner. I cracked it open a few days ago and I’m enjoying it so far. Yes, writing them down is always good. Make sure you look at them everyday, check them off, or even create posted notes. You have great goals Tori, can’t wait to watch you crush them!

Hi!! My first and main goal is to live fearlessly. A lot of our life begins on the other side of that fear! And the 2nd goal is to get in shape. It’s time, I’ve put it off too long
YES! Love your goals. I’m trying to get in shape as well, we got this!

Loved the post! My #1 goal is to strive to be a better me! To strive to make myself happy without needing the validation of others. We often get caught up on how others view us, that we actually lose sight of ourselves! No more :). #2 is to give back to those whom I inspire via mentoring, training, or maybe even blogging.
Thank you so much, Toya! GREAT goals. That’s should always be number one, making sure you’re happy without validation. Yes, to blogging and mentoring! 🙂 Excited to see all these things happen for you this year, claiming it.

First off, you’re stunning. Love those gold sequins with the red lipstick. My two goals for 2018 are to put $6k towards my student loans and to pay off my credit card debt. #moneymatters

I would love for this new year to be 1) More grateful and 2) Be less of a procastinator
seriously I need to focus on self-development because i feel like I don’t have anything to offer others if I don’t fill my own cup
happy new year xx
